Climate change and environmental degradation pose existential threats to our planet and its inhabitants. Recognizing the urgency of these challenges, the university proposes the establishment of the Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Center (CCESC).

The CCESC will be a dynamic institution dedicated to:

  • Vision: Leading the global effort towards a resilient and sustainable future, where human well-being thrives in harmony with the environment, through innovative research, collaboration, and education.
  • Mission: Advancing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and catalyzing action to address the interconnected challenges of climate change and environmental sustainability.

The CCESC aims to achieve its mission through the following objectives:

  • Research: Conduct cutting-edge research on climate science, biodiversity, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and ecosystem resilience.
  • Innovation: Develop innovative solutions and technologies for climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.

The proposed CCESC at BBSUTSD will offer a range of services to advance environmental knowledge, empower stakeholders, and support sustainable practices. These services include:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): The CCESC will offer a specialized postgraduate diploma program in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE). This program will equip professionals with the knowledge and skills to manage environmental risks, implement sustainable practices, and ensure workplace safety.
  • Trainings & Short Courses: The CCESC will provide a variety of training programs and short courses on various environmental and sustainability topics. These courses will cater to diverse audiences, including students, professionals, and community members. Examples of potential training topics include:
    • Climate change science and adaptation strategies
    • Renewable energy technologies and applications
    • Sustainable waste management practices
    • Environmental impact assessment methodologies
    • Green building design and construction
    • Environmental policy and regulations
  • Consultancy on Environment and Climate Change: The CCESC will offer consultancy services to organizations, government agencies, and industries seeking guidance on environmental challenges and climate change mitigation strategies.
