It’s my honour to work as Dean Faculty of Skill Development at the first technical University in Sindh, the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development, Kahirpur Mirs. Skill development is indeed critical in today's rapidly changing world for several reasons including career advancement, adaptability, job satisfaction, increased confidence, networking, personal growth, problem solving and future-proofing. Our mission is to produce competent workforce, by imparting technical knowledge and market driven skills with hands-on experience, industrial exposure, and promoting international academic collaboration to make them employable and leading entrepreneurs, to achieve sustainable socio-economic development I encourage each student to prioritize skill development alongside their studies. Acquiring new skills not only enriches personal growth but also enhances career prospects in an ever- evolving job market. Investing in skills today will open doors to opportunities tomorrow. Dr. Aftab Ahmed Soomro started his professional career from Heavy Electrical Complex at Haripur Hattar as Assistant Manager in November 1994 to July 1995. Meanwhile He was selected as Assistant Manager in Heavy Mechanical Complex Taxila and worked from July 1995 to November 1996. He rendered his services to Echowest International Karachi in December 1996. He worked as Site Engineer on the Project of installation of 52 km raw water pipe line from Gujjo canal to PTA plant of ICI Pakistan, Dhabeji near Karachi. He already appeared and qualified the test and interview at Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah cantt. He worked as an Assistant Manager at POF from November 1997 to September 2003. His responsibilities were the production of Tools and gauges of different calibers of Ammo & Fuzes. POF assigned him an additional task, to establish ISO 9001 Quality Management System as a Management Representative “M.R”. He did full efforts with his team and successfully got certification of ISO 9001 Quality Management System for POF Snajwal Cantt. He prevented the massive potential wastage of steam leakage in steam distribution system of POF Sanjwal Cantt; by the real-time application of his M.Sc project. Due to his dynamic responsibilities and performance, he got the appreciation testimonials from the Managing Director Pakistan Ordnance Factories and the Officer Commanding Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) Special Wing POF Sanjwal Cantt. Attock, Punjab. Meanwhile, he was appeared in the examination of Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) Hyderabad and selected as Assistant Professor (Mechanical). Since September 2003, he worked as Assistant Professor at Govt. Monotechnic Institute Kohsar Latifabad Hyderabad under Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Authority (STEVTA) Karachi. His academic responsibilities were teaching of technical subjects of D.A.E Mechanical. During service, he went Malaysia for getting PhD degree with the approval of departmental permission in June 2012. He had completed PhD degree in September 2015. Then he re-joined his services with STEVTA. He applied through proper channel for the post of Assistant Professor at the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development Khairpur Mirs. He was selected and joined as Assistant Professor (Mechanical) on 30th April 2018. Currently his job responsibilities are to teach and evaluate the B.Sc Mechanical Engineering Technology and B.Tech Mechanical subjects. He also hold an additional charge of Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and member of all statutory bodies i.e Selection Board, BoS, BoF, Academic Council, F&P Committee, Industrial Advisory Committee, Syndicate and Senate. He have 19 years of teaching experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering Technology and he had been published 16 research Journal Articles & 12 Conference Presentations.
