Profile
Mr. Arif Hussain is an accomplished Electronics Engineer and Researcher with over six years of experience in research, teaching, and STEM outreach. He holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Sukkur IBA University, where he specialized in Electronic System Design. His academic excellence was recognized with a Gold Medal at the Master's level and a Silver Medal at the Bachelor's level.
Currently, Mr. Hussain serves as a Lecturer in Electronics Engineering Technology, where he teaches a diverse range of subjects, including Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Signal Processing. He also supervises student projects and conducts experimental research. Prior to this, Mr. Hussain worked at Sukkur IBA University for four years, where he led an HEC-funded research project focused on improving GNSS-based navigation accuracy through the development of novel mitigation algorithms for dynamic environments. During his time at Sukkur IBA, he also served as a Teaching Assistant for various graduate-level courses.
As a researcher, Mr. Hussain has a proven track record of academic contributions, with over 10 publications in top-tier international journals, accumulating more than 130 citations. His research expertise spans Real-Time Monitoring and Sensing, Signal Processing, Data-Driven Modelling, Context-Aware Adaptive Navigation, IoT-based Intelligent System Design, and the development of ML/DL-based frameworks using TensorFlow and scikit-learn.
Mr. Hussain is an active member of the interdisciplinary research team at the Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Center, where his work focuses on investigating the causes of environmental degradation and developing sustainable solutions. He recently secured funding for the Sindh AIRQ project through the Research Seed Grant Program 2024. This project, inspired by Pakistan’s National Clean Air Policy, aims to implement sustainable, real-time sensing and hyper-local monitoring of air pollution in Khairpur District. Additionally, Mr. Hussain has received funding from IGNITE – National Technology Fund for Final Year Projects (FYP) and has supervised four FYP projects, primarily focused on IoT-based intelligent solutions for local challenges.
Beyond teaching and research, Mr. Hussain has consistently been entrusted with various administrative responsibilities. He previously served as Deputy Director of Marketing and Outreach (2023-24), where he led a strategic outreach program aimed at promoting technical education throughout Sindh Province. This program included a series of awareness seminars, hands-on workshops, community meetings, and participation in tech and educational expos, resulting in a 30% increase in student intake for technology programs.
Mr. Hussain is currently the Focal Person for the Dual-Degree Program offered jointly by Yunnan Communications Vocational and Technical College (YCVTC), China, and BBSUTSD. The first cohort of six students from the DAE program began their transformative journey in this dual-degree program on October 8th, 2024, studying at YCVTC as part of this international collaboration.
