BBS-UTECH | Postgraduate Program

The Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development (BBSUTSD), Khairpur Mirs was established through a bill passed by the Provincial Assembly of Sindh on 22nd April 2016, and assented by the Governor of Sindh, was published as an Act of the Legislature of Sindh by upgrading the existing Government College of Technology (GCT) and Petroleum Technical Training Institute (PTTI), Khairpur Mirs.

Originally, this was a Technical Institute named “Sir Ali Murad Technical Institute” which was subsequently, upgraded to the level of a Polytechnic by the Government of West Pakistan in the year 1962. Then it was further upgraded as “Government College of Technology, Khairpur” in the year 1974 to offer B. Tech degree Programs in different Technologies.

Despite huge investments in Sindh in the Petroleum Exploration and Production sector, Sindh rarely produces adequately skilled manpower to take up jobs in the Oil Exploration and production companies. Therefore, realizing the need and importance of technically trained and skilled technicians in the field, the Government of Sindh, with financial assistance from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources, Government of Pakistan, established the Petroleum Technical Training Institute (PTTI) in the field of Petroleum Technology at Khairpur in 2009-2010.

PTTI, Khairpur is well equipped with state-of-the-art technology to provide the latest training facilities as well as 3 years of DAE in Petroleum and Chemical Technologies as per the needs and requirements of E&P companies. The education at PTTI, Khairpur will include lectures, presentations, group discussion, and above all real-life practical exposure through field trips, and job, training followed by internships. During the training, students will have an opportunity to apply the practical concepts in real-life scenarios.

In this institute, short certificate courses for six months and one years, 3-years Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) courses, Bachelor of Science (BSc) and BS degree programs are being offered.

General Eligibility Criteria for Admissions in MS Engineering Technology Programs

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Science (MS) in Engineering Technology degree program at BBS-UTECH;

  1. The candidate must possess relevant Bachelor’s Degree (B.E. / BS / B.Tech. (Hons.) / B. Tech. (04 years) / BSc with 16 years’ education in Engineering / Technology / Engineering Technology from a HEC recognized Institution with minimum CGPA 2.0 out 4.0 or 50% marks in Annual Examination
  2. The candidates who have a relevant bachelor’s degree (16 years’ education) from foreign university, he/she must submit the verified copy of equivalence certificate obtained from HEC Pakistan along with the application form.

  • The study tour will be arranged for one (01) day only within the Sindh province, as per plan provided by the department. ** The fees (Library deposit fees & Caution money deposit) will be paid by students during the time of admission while getting admission in 1st semester of the Coursework.

Note: The fees for MS by Coursework in 4th semester or after the 4th semester (if there is any case of re-admission / delay in completion) will only be charged to such students, as per university policy.

  • The study tour will be arranged for one (01) day only within the Sindh province, as per plan provided by the department. ** The fees for conduct of a seminar(s) and final viva voce will be paid the student while submitting formal request for arranging any of the seminar/viva voce, after paying requisite fees upon each request (Rs. 2,000/seminar or viva voce), and meeting the minimum criterion, as per policy.

*** The fees (Library deposit fees & Caution money deposit) will be paid by students during the time of admission while getting admission in the 1st semester of the program.
