I am delighted to share with you the exciting news of our university's latest endeavor - the introduction of Master of Science (MS) programs in Civil, Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering Technologies.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to offer MS Engineering Technology programs in the mentioned disciplines as above. We believe that the grant of NOC to launch MS programs in Engineering Technology will be a fruit of all the efforts devoted in creating a high-quality education and the best research environment in the country.
The Directorate of Postgraduate studies will make continuous efforts to further activate this directorate for up to date information sharing regarding the updates on postgraduate studies programs through university website and different social media platforms.
We aim to make this directorate a hub that cultivates global leaders with academic excellence, practical excellence and humanistic excellence, and constantly develop academic and professional knowledge, by realizing excellent faculty, excellent students and excellent facilities through research reform, education reform, and administration and infrastructure reform.

The Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development (BBSUTSD), Khairpur Mirs was established through a bill passed by the Provincial Assembly of Sindh on 22nd April 2016, and assented by the Governor of Sindh, was published as an Act of the Legislature of Sindh by upgrading the existing Government College of Technology (GCT) and Petroleum Technical Training Institute (PTTI), Khairpur Mirs.
Originally, this was a Technical Institute named “Sir Ali Murad Technical Institute” which was subsequently, upgraded to the level of a Polytechnic by the Government of West Pakistan in the year 1962. Then it was further upgraded as “Government College of Technology, Khairpur” in the year 1974 to offer B. Tech degree Programs in different Technologies.
Despite huge investments in Sindh in the Petroleum Exploration and Production sector, Sindh rarely produces adequately skilled manpower to take up jobs in the Oil Exploration and production companies. Therefore, realizing the need and importance of technically trained and skilled technicians in the field, the Government of Sindh, with financial assistance from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources, Government of Pakistan, established the Petroleum Technical Training Institute (PTTI) in the field of Petroleum Technology at Khairpur in 2009-2010.
PTTI, Khairpur is well equipped with state-of-the-art technology to provide the latest training facilities as well as 3 years of DAE in Petroleum and Chemical Technologies as per the needs and requirements of E&P companies. The education at PTTI, Khairpur will include lectures, presentations, group discussion, and above all real-life practical exposure through field trips, and job, training followed by internships. During the training, students will have an opportunity to apply the practical concepts in real-life scenarios.
In this institute, short certificate courses for six months and one years, 3-years Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) courses, Bachelor of Science (BSc) and BS degree programs are being offered.
The functions of the Advanced Studies and Research Board shall be; (a) To advise the Authorities on all matters connected with the promotion of advanced studies and research in the University; (b) To propose regulations regarding the award of research degrees; (c) To appoint supervisors for research students and to determine the subjects of their thesis; (d) To recommehd panels of names of paper setters and examiners for research examinations after considering the proposals of the Board of Studies in this behalf; and (e) To perform such other functions as may be prescribed by the statutes.
